Why yoga for kids?
Once upon a time, twice in fact, I became a mother. As a parent, you usually want the best for your children: that’s the reason why I started sharing a yoga practice with my little ones, at first some postures, breathing techniques and relaxation around popular fairytales.
I truly believe yoga for kids can help them build their physical, social and emotional skills and prepare them to become more balanced and resilient people, as well as kinder and happier adults.
When CoVid hit the world, they were quite little and our yoga breaks were a good addition to keep them entertained, active and keep them connected to the world around them.
In 2021, I decided to deepen my knowledge and why not, teach other kids as well, and I enrolled for a 95-hour Kids Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training. It was intense, fun, nurturing, rich … in less words: more than I had hoped for!
Since then, I have taught in middle schools and nurseries: I love creating yoga classes around a story, using movement, breathing, games and mindfulness to give the children tools to support their physical, mental and emotional balance, in particular:
- Body awareness and expression,
- focus,
- emotional awareness,
- self esteem,
- and resilience
in a fun and nurturing environment.
And I have fun creating my own yoga cards and crafts to support my classes.
